About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced and qualified integrative therapist offering therapy to people from the age of 14 years upwards and a qualified integrative psychotherapist for adults. My aim is to provide you with a safe space to share with me what you want to, where you feel heard and accepted and where you won’t be told what to do. I won’t sit in silence either and you won’t be made to talk about anything you don’t want to. People come for therapy for different reasons, so my aim is to support you with where you are at. I offer weekly in-person or online sessions.

Trust can be important for many people before they feel safe to talk openly, you will be listened to and have the time you need during the sessions to feel comfortable with me. We won’t just focus on the difficulties in your life but also look at identifying and building upon your strengths.

You may choose to explore feelings and experiences, look at ways you have coped with these and find more helpful ways of managing difficult feelings or situations. You may have overwhelming feelings in your body and not be able to make sense of them or want to get to know yourself more, connect with your own wants and needs and make sense of your past experiences and how they have shaped you. Events or changes in your life or your sense of self may have brought up difficult feelings, you might feel stuck or there may be patterns that you get into in relationships or other places that don’t feel helpful anymore. Whatever you choose to share, I will aim to support you in making positive changes.

Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is my primary aim, alongside supporting you in connecting with yourself. For some people talking or finding words to say how you feel can feel difficult or daunting. I may also suggest different ways of expressing feelings and making sense of things like using artwork, exploring different parts of yourself, games, craft, objects, and imagery.

Practice description

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for 12 years with children, young people, and their families. I also worked with young women who were experiencing sexual exploitation.

I have been a qualified therapist for young people and adults since 2007 and completed training as a psychotherapist for adults in 2023. I continue to undertake courses for professional development. As well as working privately, I have provided therapy for ‘hard-to-reach’ young people who have experienced developmental trauma and the care system. I have worked in a low-cost counselling service, a service offering psychotherapy to women who have experienced trauma, therapy for young people at a sexual abuse and rape service and counselling to young people in school. I also have years of experience of working with students living away from home.

I work with adults and young people facing many different issues particularly around the impact of trauma, abuse, adverse childhood experiences and attachment issues. I also have experience of working with people who are neurodiverse and want support to explore: sexuality and gender, chronic pain, identity, loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression and anger, self-harm, OCD, stress, living away at university, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem and self-criticism, life changes, parenthood, isolation and loneliness, body image, social anxiety, self-harm, feeling numb or not knowing own wants and needs, bullying, work/school issues, relationship difficulties with family, partners and friends.

I work both long term and short term and sessions are weekly.
