About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling to adults and young people from the age of twelve years. I aim to provide you with a safe space that is yours, to share with me what you want to, where you feel heard and accepted and where you won’t be told what to do. I won’t sit in silence either and you won’t be made to talk about anything you don’t want to. People come for counselling for different reasons, so my aim is to support you with where you are at and work with you on what you want to share.
My training is as an integrated counsellor. Building a safe relationship is my primary aim. I may suggest techniques and ways of working that have worked for other people. I will help you notice your thoughts and feelings and how this impacts on how your body feels. I may also suggest different ways of expressing feelings and making sense of things like using artwork, games, craft objects and imagery.
My background is twelve years of working with children, young people and their families. I also specialised in working with young women who were experiencing sexual exploitation. I then became a counsellor/therapist working with young people and adults in 2009. As well as working privately, I have provided counselling to hard to reach young people who have experienced trauma and the care system. I have worked in a low cost counselling service, in a service offering psychotherapy to women who have experienced trauma, a service offering counselling to young people who have experienced rape and abuse and counselling to young people in school.
