About me and my therapy practice

I offer therapy to adults and young people from the age of 14 years. I am offering online and face to face sessions. I aim to provide you with a safe space for you to share with me what you want to, where you feel heard and accepted and where you won’t be told what to do. I won’t sit in silence either and you won’t be made to talk about anything you don’t want to. People come for therapy for different reasons, so my aim is to support you with where you are at.

You will be listened to and have the time you need, because trust can be important for many people before they feel safe to talk openly. I will not just focus on the difficulties in your life but also look at building on and identifying your strengths. I will support you at your pace.

You may choose to explore feelings and experiences, look at ways you have helped yourself and find more helpful ways of coping. You might not know what you feel like and want support in putting words to feelings. You may have overwhelming feelings in your body and not be able to make sense of them. You might want to get to know yourself more and make sense of your past experiences and how they have shaped you. Whatever you choose to share, I will aim to support you in making a positive change.

Practice description

My training is as an integrative therapist, and I am undertaking a MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy which will be completed in 2023. Building a therapeutic relationship is my primary aim. I may also suggest different ways of expressing feelings and making sense of things like using artwork, games, craft, objects, and imagery.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for 12 years with children, young people, and their families. I also worked with young women who were experiencing sexual exploitation. I have been a therapist working with young people and adults since 2009. As well as working privately, I have provided therapy to hard-to-reach young people who have experienced trauma and the care system. I have worked in a low-cost counselling service, in a service offering therapy to women who have experienced trauma, a service offering therapy to young people who have experienced rape and abuse and counselling to young people in school. I also have many years of experience of supporting students living away from home.
