About me and my therapy practice
I can help guide you towards processing and understanding your thoughts and feelings, as well as gaining self clarity to create growth and change for yourself.
I have a wealth of experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, Burnout, Addiction, Anger Management, Trauma, ADHD, Stress, Resentment, Identity issues and I have supported many Carers in my time as a counsellor. Having worked with a wide range of diverse clients, I understand the importance of having your identity, background, beliefs and culture acknowledged, which is why I welcome everyone and you will be seen and heard.
You will be met with a warm, supportive, non-judgemental ear, to help enable you to be yourself, share and express what it is that is weighing you down. I work in a Person-Centred way, meaning that I want to understand your perception and reality for what it is that you are experiencing without analysing you or pushing you in areas that you do not want to go. The safe and confidential sessions will be at your pace and I will help guide you and highlight patterns, which can help towards gaining self clarity and process what you share with me.
I understand the importance of having a trusting safe relationship so that sharing your problems with someone does not seem so hard. During our sessions, I would encourage you to be able to feel free to cry, sit in silence, shout, swear or whatever it is you need to feel lighter, I will be there and support you throughout your process.
I acknowledge that putting words to your feelings or experience can be difficult, even sometimes it feels impossible, which is why I also trained in a CPCAB Creative Counselling Fellowship, so that I can help you find other ways of expressing yourself, if you so wish to work in this way.
I can offer mindfulness techniques that we can do together, which can also be a strategy that you can take away with you in between sessions, including: grounding, relaxation techniques and breathing.
Practice description
I have a Person-Centred Counselling Degree, Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP and fully insured.
I have attended an extensive Creative Counsellors fellowship, where I can work creatively with many tools to help unlock and bring the unconscious into the conscious and mindfulness.
I worked as a counsellor throughout the pandemic with a Carers charity that helps with their mental health struggles. This included: Stress, feeling overwhelmed, resentment, anger, depression, isolation, anxiety, loss, bereavement, exhaustion, loss, guilt and more.
Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care - Distinction
Level 2 Understanding Autism
Facilitating Learning in Groups level 3 course 95% Assessment Result
COVID-19 Psychological First Aid - Public Health England with 94% test score
Previous to counselling, I was nursing/caring in Nursing homes, Hospital wards and in Accident and Emergency.
Overall, I have worked in the health care industry for 13+ years.
My first session
The counselling service that I offer is In person, via video sessions on Microsoft Teams or by telephone. This means that I can work with people from all over the country, including rural areas where people struggle to meet a counsellor face to face.
