About me and my therapy practice
The basis of my work is person-centred. This means I work with what you choose to bring to the sessions. I offer a confidential, safe space for you to discuss whatever it is that is causing you concern. You will soon see that I don't judge. I do all I can to understand your issue from your perspective. Then we work together to bring about the changes you want to see. In addition to the person-centred model, I am trained and experienced to work with other models including Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt, mindful practice and creative techniques. I will suggest a variety of ways of therapy depending on the issues you bring and your preferred ways of working. I believe the crucial aspect to successful counselling is the therapeutic relationship that you and I create.
I work with young people over the age of 13, including those with additional needs, and adults struggling with issues including anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, family problems, lack of confidence and self-esteem.
Sometimes, the thought of talking to a friend or loved-one about our problems makes us feel like a burden. Sometimes, there just isn't someone to talk to that we feel will understand, or care about, what we're going through. That's where I come in. With me, you will have the opportunity to unpack the overwhelming and stressful thoughts and feelings in your brain. Together we can untangle these emotions by exploring how your thoughts and feelings are affecting your behaviours, reactions and life choices. As a result, you get these powerful and enlightening lightbulb moments which are also known as aha moments. These aha moments will show you how your experiences and choices have brought you to where you are now. This new clarity will allow you to make the choices and changes enabling you to better cope with life's challenges, and flourish.
My first session
I offer a free introductory call. In this call you can tell me a little about your reason for seeking counselling and I can tell you how I practice and what you can expect from our sessions. You will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have. My friendly approach will put you at ease and you'll get a sense of me from the start. This call will help you decide if I'm the right therapist for you. If you decide you'd like to work with me, we can set up our first session as soon as possible. I offer online, telephone or face-to-face therapy. Face-to-face therapy takes place in either South Woodford E18 or Buckhurst Hill IG9
