About me and my therapy practice

My 24 years’ experience working as a Creative Arts Psychotherapist and counsellor has given me fascinating insights into people of all ages and their intricacies and gifts. I am an integrative psychotherapist with a foundation in child development, counselling, and theoretical approaches that draw upon symbolic and holistic elements for deepening self-understanding and healing. I have many years of working with primary aged children in schools and young people and adults on the Autistic Spectrum. I was a counsellor for the NHS for a number of years and I have my own supervisory practice working with students and professionals.

Practice description

You will have opportunities to explore and express yourself using methods that suit you best. You may wish to work with me online with video discussion, chat with no visual or audio, only audio, or email, or face to face. There is scope to incorporate creative arts and artistic self-expression if you wish. For my therapy with children and young people video sessions with play, art, story making, song and movement, chat, audio and email are all possible. Therapy is a chance to deepen self-understanding emotionally and psychologically benefiting personal growth and change.

My first session

I may ask you to fill in an assessment form prior to our first meeting so we can have an idea of your aims and hopes of therapy.

In your first session we will meet and explore what has brought you to seeking therapy and what your hopes are, and find a suitable session time if we agree to work together. I often suggest a six week block with a review towards the end of the six weeks to review how therapy is going. I offer a thirty minute time slot at half fee rate if requested for the first meeting, otherwise my full fee will be charged for a first full session meeting time.

About me and my therapy practice

I have enjoyed offering supervision for over twenty years to professionals and students. I am able to  incorporate an eclectic range of theories as well as concepts of Winnicott and Bowlby which enable an awareness of attachment, relationships and play (the ability to be creative) to support the therapist's and student's supervision practice.

I have worked for over twenty five years in main stream schools with children and young people and in specialist schools for children and young people on the Autistic Spectrum. I worked for the NHS as a counsellor and have a private practice. I tutored training creative arts therapy students in movement therapy and have supervised professionals and students for many years.
