About me and my therapy practice

Hello My name is Gill

I provide High quality Counselling for Neurodiverse Couples and Individuals and for those who have a disordered relationship with food. Please refer to me website for more information regarding Neurodiverse Counselling www.blossomhousecounselling.co.uk

I am also an Eating Disorder Practitioner and have completed both the Practitioner skills for Eating Disorders training and Nutritional Interventions for ED at the prestigious National Centre For Eating Disorders (NCFED).

I work to get to know the unique person beneath the Eating Disorder first and build a strong, safe, compassionate therapeutic relationship.

If you are concerned about your relationship with eating and your weight, shape and size, I will work alongside you to establish goals towards Enhancing motivation for change, and to help you to eat normally and get rid of the symptoms like starving and purging.

I use a collaborative coaching style to help you become ready and willing to engage in treatment and to move forward in your life towards personal growth and a new relationship with yourself, others and with food.

I can offer a 1.5 hour or a 3 hour Assessment to identify what keeps you stuck in the system of your ED, and then if you want to work with me, I provide a pathway for Recovery and Lifestyle change, using an integration of Behavioural Change Interventions, psychoeducational tools and Enhanced CBT.

Practice description

I am currently working Face to Face and On Line from my practice near Daventry Northamptonshire. I see Adults (with BMI 16+) from all over the UK.

My first session

I offer a FREE 30 minute Consultation via phone or zoom to establish contact and identify goals.

Before I see you for your first session, I send you a Lifestyle Questionnaire to complete and we use this together, so that I can get to know you and clarify information regarding your Eating Disorder and your current health situation and what you would like to gain from seeing an ED practitioner.

I will do a Lifeline exercise with you which is a visual representation of your life history or story, charting life events and your relationship with food and your weight. I will use the Lifeline to offer you hope too, so you can see the big picture and your non ED values and hopes.

I will ask you if you have any ideas about what is keeping you stuck in your ED and will offer a possible explanation too, using a visual image. I will provide a formulation for the problem and explain how therapy works.

I will then give you some options for going forward and if you want to work with me, some handouts and homework to inform you and help build your motivation.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello! My name is Gill and I specialise in working with Individuals and couples with Neurodiversity and I also work with adults with who have experienced trauma and those with Disordered Eating and Eating Disorders.

I have lived experience of Neurodiversity and aim to provide a warm, safe, inclusive, and non judgemental relationship in my work with all clients irrespective of their gender, neuro type, sexual orientation, race, ability  or religion/faith.

I work in an Integrative way using a range of counselling modalities that fit each individual and unique person.

I work on an open ended basis for an agreed period of time and offer a free no obligation 30 minute consultation for us to meet and for you to tell me more about your needs and goals.

Practice description

Hello. I work with Individuals and couples with a here and now relational emphasis of the Gestalt approach but also work in an integrative way to tailor my approach to best fit different client's and unique personalities- such CBT, Attachment model, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma work etc.

I also work with clients who are neurodivergent and couples where one partner is Neurotypical and the other is Neurodivergent.

I work to be a safe and effective bridge so that couples can identify their strengths, as well as to understand the unhelpful patterns and cycles that can occur in relationships.

We work together as a team towards specific goals, to identify what can and can't be changed for growth and for flourishing.

My first session

I offer a FREE 30 minute consultation so that we can meet each other either via phone or zoom and we can both identify goals for counselling and if you wish to proceed with Counselling, my first session involves getting to know you as a person, taking some more information and carrying out an Assessment of your needs.

I ask clients to fill in an Attachment Questionnaire and to draw their family Genogram- a sort of relational family tree. We then discuss goals and a time frame for Therapy.
