About me and my therapy practice
Hiya I'm Mary and I help people to feel better about themselves so that they can move on in their lives.
Although you may have supportive family and friends sometimes its useful to talk to someone who isn't part of your life and isn't going to have an opinion.
Working with a counsellor enables you to focus on your needs with a friendly presence alongside you. It allows you to explore experience and identify ways of moving forward without the pressure of having to be ‘better than’ or ‘different to’ who you are. Through my experience and training, I have developed the skills, knowledge and emotional strength to support you as you explore very powerful emotions in a safe place. This will help you develop a greater understanding of your experiences with a view to approaching things in a way that benefits you.
I work from my office at home with adults who present with a variety of difficulties but I have the most experience with depression, anxiety and stress and with victims of sexual trauma In the past. I have always worked with clients face-to-face but during the covid crisis I am working exclusively with skype.
My first session
I offer a free first session which lasts the full therapuetic hour ( you can leave earlier if you wish) It is important that you find that you feel comfortable talking to and this session allows you to test it out. It also allows me to assess whether or not I can be useful to you. The session is completely confidential and there is no pressure to book further sessions.
