About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. I hope this page can answer some of your questions about what having counselling with me might be like.
You may be considering seeking counselling for many different reasons. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, confused or anxious. Perhaps an unexpected event has had an enormous impact on you, for example a loss, a trauma, or problems in your relationships. Or it may be that events from long ago are causing difficulty in your present life . You may feel very clear about what brings you to counselling, or you may have a more general feeling that something isn’t right in your life. Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I will support you as you find new insights and seek to make changes in your life. I work in a sensitive, empathic way to help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences and gain awareness of how you relate to yourself and others. I will work with you flexibly, helping you to explore your concerns at your own pace. I am a person-centred counsellor which means I will seek to listen to, accept and understand you in a particular way that can help you to discover your capacity to heal and grow, despite the challenges and barriers that may stand in the way.
I am BACP-registered and offer a confidential and supportive space, either online (via Zoom) or face-to-face in central Norwich.
I hold a number of spaces for those who cannot afford the full fee and are on certain benefits. Please ask me about this.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the Norwich Centre, a BACP-accredited course. I continue to work and volunteer at the Norwich Centre. I have also volunteered for Cruse Bereavement Care where I undertook additional training in issues related to loss and grief. I regularly undertake ongoing professional development to enrich my practice.
My first sessionI believe it is vital to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with and I welcome you to take the first step and meet with me for a low-cost initial session. I offer the first 1 hour session at a reduced fee of £20 to give us the opportunity to meet each other and discuss what has brought you to counselling. This is also a chance for you to see what I can offer and ask any questions you may have about counselling with me.
