About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, experienced person-centred counsellor. I work in a non-directive, empathic way, supporting you to explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences and gain awareness of how you relate to yourself and others. I will work with you flexibly, helping you to explore your concerns at your own pace. The most important aspect of successful therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist, in which you are not judged and can discover your capacity to heal and grow.
I work with adults and young people over 16.
Practice description
I am BACP-registered and offer a confidential and supportive space, either online or face-to-face in NR2. Counselling can be short or long term depending on your requirements.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the Norwich Centre, a BACP-accredited course, where I also worked and volunteered. I have also volunteered for Cruse Bereavement Care. More recently I have worked in the Wellbeing Service (NHS/IAPT) where I undertook additional training in counselling for depression and also specialised in working with perinatal women.
Recent additional training and CPD includes the following:
- Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
- working with clients with ADHD and ASD
- body image and body dysmorphia
- attachment issues in younger clients
- domestic violence
- emotional regulation
I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds who are coping with difficulties such as loss, bereavement, depression, anxiety (including generalised anxiety disorder), mid-life transitions, abuse, trauma, eating disorders, self-harm, illness and problems in relationships.
My first session
The first step is to email me or call me on 07930 301541. I will offer you a brief telephone conversation to ask any questions you may have and to set up an initial appointment if you would like to. At the initial appointment I will tell you more about the way I work and go through some details with you (for example privacy and confidentiality). You will have an opportunity to tell me about what has brought you to counselling and to see if you feel we would work well together. We will then book further appointments if you decide to go ahead.
I offer the first 1-hour session at a reduced fee of £30.
I hold a number of spaces for those who cannot afford the full fee and are on certain benefits. Please ask me about this.
