About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Tess and I am an accredited member of the BACP. I have over 35 years experience working in the NHS and for the last 15 years I have been based in a busy psychology department of a large Mental Health Trust, where I provide counselling and psychotherapy to help and support individuals with a wide variety of issues.
I have recently developed Meraki counselling service, this is a bespoke space, created to provide a safe, reflective place for people to explore their lives and difficulties and begin the journey towards making change. People come to therapy for many different reasons; managing recent life events, fluctuating emotional states or recognising the impact of past traumas on current experiences and relationships. I use both counselling and creativity to help people explore those issues and to encourage a sense of inner resilience and strength, the foundations for strong, sustainable change.
I began my counselling training at Warwick University and qualified as a person centred counsellor in 2008. Since then I have attained further diplomas, with the specific aim of improving and broadening my practice. My NHS experience has been based largely in mental health settings, supporting people with acute anxiety, depression, stress, anger issues, trauma and self-harm. I have also been fortunate through numerous voluntary roles to meet and support people who have experienced bereavement, sexual trauma, domestic abuse and loss.
