Availability

I run a busy practice and am always happy to hear from new clients.  I currently have limited availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Please contact me directly on 07913 7614141 or sinead@artisan-therapy.com to discuss your availability and to set up an initial session.  I offer an initial 50 minute session to all new clients at a reduced rate of £30.00, giving you and I the opportunity to ensure that I am the right therapist for you.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and a very warm welcome. I am here to hear you. 

I recognise that you may feel nervous and unsure about seeking help. I am here to reassure you that these are very common human feelings. Sometimes in life we all need help to understand where we are in the world, where the relationships we have had in our past and have in our present have and are shaping the way we feel, think and live today.

You may have questions about yourself and your interaction with the world which you struggle to answer.   You may or may not be able to put words to the way you feel, it may be more a felt sense of being misunderstood, alone in your feelings, stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts, self-doubt, and hopelessness.

I am a very experienced, empathic, honest, caring, open-minded and non-judgemental professional who places a strong value in diversity and difference.  

All evidence in the therapeutic field points to the relationship between therapist and client being a vital key in a client achieving their goal in therapy.  From the onset you and I will work to establish a trusting and caring environment where you will comfortable and able to find answers to your own questions in order to begin and then continue to navigate life with more choice and less anxiety and stress. 

We are all unique human beings, each with our own stories and our own way of viewing the world and each needing different elements from a relationship at different times. You may want to be gently listened to, you may want a more direct approach, you may need time to navigate and explore your relationships, feeling unsure where to begin or you may have one event or feeling that you wish to bring to your sessions and untangle and come to peace with.  Together, we will develop an approach that specifically works for you so you can begin to understand your current feelings and to see the road with more clarity.

Practice description

I work as an integrative therapist. If you have never had therapy before, you may be asking what does this mean? Well, I have a tool kit of therapies which, amongst others, includes anxiety work (a six week programme that gives you the tools to understand your anxiety and begin to work on it), stress, psychodynamic work (looking at how your childhood and early experiences may relate to the person you are today), humanistic therapy (the way that you look at the world and how this impacts your thoughts and actions), trauma (how certain events in our life can create an ongoing and often re-enacting pattern of fear, depression and flashbacks).

I use this tool kit so that when you speak to me, I have the ability to have all of these therapies in mind as I reach out to hear you as a unique individual. You will feel heard and confident that I will be able to work with you in a way that enables you to move forward in the direction you want to, to understand and change your life in the way that you and no one else decides. 

I share these tools with you too so, as you begin your journey of exploration, you have a visual concept of the path you are on and can begin to use these to navigate the world outside of the therapy session.

However more than anything, I would like you, having read this, to take away an impression of warmth, compassion, understanding and kindness.

My first session

My first session with a new client is always a 50 minute session at a reduced rate of £30.00. 

As it is so important to me that you find the right therapist for you, we need some time for both of us to get a sense of who we both are and whether we are the right fit. Therapy can be challenging, it can bring emotions to the fore that you have never explored previously.  You may have areas of your life that you want to talk about in confidence and this cannot happen without you feeling secure and comfortable with your therapist.

This relationship should provide you with a space where trust, warmth, understanding, perceptiveness and confidentiality are the corner stones of our working relationship and it is crucial that you feel that these elements are present with the therapist that you choose. Within this space, you will sow initial seeds of doubt and fear which will begin to grow into your type of plant, allowing you to start feel more confident to explore your inner self and your interaction with the outside world in ways that you have never done before.

Our first 50 minute session also allows me to give you a little more detail of how I work and for you to ask any questions that you might have. There will be an assessment form to fill in so that I can get a sense of what it is you wish to bring to therapy. This will also allow me to get a sense of who you are, what it is you wish to achieve and what therapeutic approach might be right for you.
