About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist working in Hassocks offering 1-2-1 face to face and online sessions to adults.
I offer a safe and non judgemental space for us to work alongside each other in bringing about positive change. Sometimes change comes about in an unexpected or subliminal way meaning that our working relationship and trust in the process is paramount.
I will treat you as a unique individual, and we will together explore your personal narrative, your sense of self and how this has been constructed by your life experiences and relationships. It is my job to fully understand 'how it is to be you' as far as is possible and then to offer neutral and objective challenges to the status quo.
The process of exploring will help us to gain understanding and put meaning to your unease/distress in the here and now. I see the mind-body as deeply connected and sometimes use my experiences as a yoga therapist and meditation teacher in my work, for example providing bespoke guided meditations, breath work practices or grounding techniques.
I have worked as a Senior Lecturer at University of Brighton since 2017, teaching on the PGDip and MSc programmes in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work from a consulting room in my home, which is comfortable, light and airy.
I work with clients weekly, with an agreed regular time slot, either open ended or to a set number of sessions. We can discuss this at the initial consultation which I offer free of charge for 20mins.
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration each week. My style of working is to allow sessions to emerge as they need to (phenomenologically) with compassion and humanity but also bringing active challenge and hold an intention for sessions to feel productive towards positive change.
