About me and my therapy practice

The focus of my work is to enable you to have the best life you can. It is important to me to offer you a safe space where i can support you to express yourself, even if you do not know how to begin to speak about your experiences and particularly if you are new to counselling.

Practice description

How I actually work with you will be unique. I aim to ensure that I gain the fullest understanding of you and what concerns you. For some people, this will take them through an emotional journey towards appreciating who they already are, and for others, this will involve my being alongside them as they explore and undertake every important change. There are times when we all experience anxiety and emotional distress, feeling anxious and unhappy in every day life.

Counselling and working together through times of difficulty can help you to see things more clearly, possibly from a different view point. This can enable you to focus on your feelings and your life at present with a goal to facilitating positive changes in your life.

My overall aim is to strengthen your own ability to identify and implement solutions so that you no longer need me and feel empowered to develop and manage your life in a way that is positive for you.

I offer therapeutic counselling to children, young people and adults working with individuals on a one to one basis. Short term and long term.

I am contracted and working in schools and colleges to provide on site counselling to young people. I work in nursing, children's residential and care homes. I offer home visits for disabled people and whose who may struggle with mobility.

My first session

Taking the step to contact a counsellor is a tremendously courageous thing to do and it is completely natural to feel nervous, anxious and apprehensive talking, meeting a counsellor and during your first session.

What matters most is you feel respected, listened to, heard and be in an environment that feels safe and non-judgemental. You are by far the best judge of what works for you. Take a deep breath, your first session is where you begin your journey.

Counsellors are professionally trained to listen to a range of issues. Although what everyone brings to counselling is unique to them, a good counsellor will safely hold what you share. In your first session try to be as open as you can but understand it may take time to build up trust so do not be too hard on yourself.

Counselling is not a quick fix, and the invitation is to be patient with yourself and the process. Give yourself the time and space to talk in your own time of what brings you to counselling. With time counselling helps you to build healthier relationships, turn your life around and make the long-lasting changes you require.
