About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative counsellor with more than 10 years of training and experience in Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy and Mindfulness Based Approaches.
I believe everyone is unique and I draw on a range of therapeutic models and methods so that therapy can be tailored to your individual needs and goals. These include humanistic and psychodynamic therapies, alongside CBT and third wave therapies which share the core aim of raising awareness of thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental way, and incorporating mindfulness based practises to facilitate healing and personal growth.
The foundation of my approach is collaborative and compassionate and my aim is to provide you with a safe, therapeutic, non-judgemental relationship where I hope you will feel heard, understood and accepted so that you can heal through your pain and move forward with your life.
Some of the difficulties I have experience working with include but are not limited to anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, bereavement and loss, anger management, stress management and self-esteem issues.
Currently I am offering counselling online via a secure and encrypted platform called zoom, and by telephone which I have received specific additional training for. Online counselling is an effective and convenient way for accessing counselling from the comfort of your home or office. It can also be helpful for bringing difficulties which may feel more challenging in a face to face setting.
As I understand the importance of finding the right counsellor for you, I offer an initial 20-30 minute consultation by phone free of charge in order that you can determine if you would feel comfortable working together. Please get in touch.
My first session
Our initial appointment will include some questions to explore and help my understanding of how I can best help you and so we can both agree on a way forward.
We will agree upon an appointment time ideally to be held at the same day and time every week.
I offer both time limited and open ended counselling. The former is where we both agree upon a specific number of sessions to work together at the outset, and the latter is where there is no firm end date.
We will use a secure and encrypted platform called zoom for our meetings. I can offer some basic information regarding how to use the platform if required, along with some guidance for privacy and confidentiality.
