About me and my therapy practice

I work in a Relational way using a combination Person Centred and Transactional Analysis. They both belong to a group of Therapies known as Humanistic. Person Centred therapy was founded over 50 years ago by American Psychologist Carl Rogers. The Person-Centred approach means that I create a safe space for you to talk confidentially about the areas of your life that are causing you discomfort. Staying at your pace with the areas you wish to bring.

Transactional Analysis was originally developed by Psychiatrist Eric Berne in the 1950's. Following on from the work of Freud he created amongst other things the Parent Adult Child model. He and his peers created a working group in San Fransisco, they met on a weekly Basis. Sadly he died before he was able to complete his life's work but many very accomplished clinicians have gone on to develop his work further it's ever adapting.

I often describe our work together as a journey, one within which I walk along side you. It is not my right or responsibility to tell you how I think you should approach situation, but together we can challenge some of the beliefs you hold and help you discover your inner abilities and develop your own autonomy. This means that you are then better equipped to cope with current and future problems.

Practice description

My client base is extremely diverse being located on the boundary of Leeds and Bradford makes for a rich culturally diverse mix. In addition to my work with Children, Young Adults and Adults I also work with couples.

My work with couples is predominantly on a short term basis the average being about 6 sessions. Often the route of issues are communication difficulties. I can help you regain the intimacy and understanding that you may have misplaced along the way to return you to a loving empathic relationship with yourself and those around you.

I work remotely and in person at the UK Counselling Network C.I.C. My clients have always really valued my honesty and my down to earth approach, I offer no nonsense, no gimmicks, just straight forward deep and meaningful relationship. This has ensured that my clients feel safe to explore themselves and have said they have felt deeply heard which has led to deep therapeutic work taking place. I offer you my unique self and sense of humour with warmth and acceptance.

My first session

The first session is about getting to know each other and us making a decision if we feel we can work together. We're all unique and what works for one person doesn't work for everybody, for our therapeutic relationship to be strong and the outcomes effective you have to trust that i'm the fit for you. If at the end of our first session you don't think you can work with me then please tell me.
