About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Charlotte and I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society MNCPS (Accr.).
Counselling means that we will work together, trying to make sense of what you have been through, what you are experiencing and how this affects you in the present time.
I believe our earliest relationships shape who we are and why we might be struggling with certain things.
Untangling difficult emotions and thoughts can be challenging but we would do this together, in a safe space.
Practice description
I have extensive experience working with clients who have a wide range of needs.I put focus on the therapeutic relationship which means we will be working as a team to explore, process and make sense of what's happened to you and what you are struggling with.
I am offering a safe, non-judgemental space for you, in which you will be able to talk about and explore anything you want.
Our relationship would be built on respect, trust and congruence.
As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) I adhere to their ethical framework which places a strong value in diversity and difference.
I work in a trauma-informed way as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level I & II, Complex Trauma. CCTP/CCTP II.
My first session
My initial consultations will be a 50-minute online session. During your first session, I will ask questions to understand what you're struggling with and what brought you to therapy.
We might talk about some of your past (family history & relationships) and how your symptoms or feelings are manifesting today, and how long they have been showing up. We will talk about your goals for therapy and what they mean to you.
It's perfectly normal to be nervous or anxious before your initial session and I will do my best to answer any questions you might have.
This initial consultation is a good way for you to explore if counselling, and me as your therapist, feels like the right thing for you at this time.
