About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and a warm welcome! My name is Haley, and I am a BACP Accredited psychotherapist, with a Masters in Counselling. While I was trained in both the person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, which both inform my work, I am ultimately a trauma informed practitioner, taking a relational, client-centred approach. I am also trained in DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting), as I believe that there needs to be a whole system approach (biopsychosocial) to healing and gaining further insight to one's lived experience.

Alongside my private practice, I also work in a specialist NHS clinic, working in a split role with both gender identity clients, as well as clients who have experienced sexual assault and/or abuse, and/or have experienced childhood sexual abuse. I wrote my Masters Dissertation on using narrative interviewing in order to understand the contextual experience of re-telling one’s experience of sexual assault, and I have also been a contributor to a book titled, “#MeToo: Survivors of Sexual Violence as Psychotherapists and Counsellors”, which was published in 2020. I thus have a breadth of experience and knowledge in working with both trauma and the effects of childhood sexual abuse, and their impact on long-term mental health and wellbeing. I work with both individuals and couples, having completed my training in Couples Therapy with Relationship Scotland.

I am very passionate about my work as a therapist, and I have felt deeply privileged to sit alongside my clients' journeys. I believe it is important to pay attention to the whole person, hearing about both their internal world and external landscape. Above all, I work in a therapeutic space which is characterised by empathy, acceptance and exploration. I look forward to hopefully accompanying and supporting you in a process of growth and transition.
