Long or short-term therapy is available on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. I usually recommend starting on a weekly basis where possible.
About me and my therapy practice
First and foremost, I aim to create a friendly, warm space where clients feel safe and able to open up. I'm aware that therapy can be a daunting prospect, so I will ease you into the process as much as I can. I won't probe you with questions, nor will I sit silently making notes, instead we will collaborate to find our own rhythm and way of working.
I provide clients with tools to allow them to deal with the challenges that life can bring. This may be learning how to manage a diagnosis of adhd, dealing with challenging interpersonal relationships, alleviating social anxiety, or coping with feelings of low mood.
The therapy space can also be used to process past experiences or as a sounding board to explore creating a new sense of self or direction in life.
Where appropriate, I use my experience as a meditation teacher to work somatically with the body using breathe work and mindfulness.
Practice description
I'm Naomi. I trained as a therapist at post-graduate level in Melbourne, Australia.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the food industry as a start up founder and then a marketing and branding manager. I identify as part of the LGBTQIA + community and use she/they pronouns.
My experience includes working as a freelance psychotherapist for MIND, a university campus counsellor and as a LGBTQIA+ crisis line telephone counsellor. I have extensive training and experience in working with young adults (18 - 35) and GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diverse) clients.
Certified Psychosexual Therapist 2022 (sexual issues, sexual trauma, GSRD client relevant, sex-positive approach).
Certified Trauma Therapist 2023 (evidence-based therapies, somatic focussed, tapping, emphasis on creating a sense of safety and emotional stabilisation, practical ways of addressing intrusive imagery, working with triggers).
I'm an integrative therapist, which means I draw on several modalities. This is likely to include person-centred, compassion-focussed, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic, attachment, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and existential approaches.
My first session
I don't have a formal structure or assessment process, however I may ask things like what is bringing you to therapy now and if you have any goals for therapy. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers - we can think about these topics together.
