About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile,
I am passionate about ensuring therapy is accessible, flexible and tailored to each persons individual needs. I have a love of culture and languages having been raised cross culturally in England and Portugal.
I completed my professional training in integrative psychotherapy in 2008 and chose this form of therapy as it adopts the view that as human beings we are naturally geared towards self-regulation (balance/wholeness) when the right conditions are in place.
In 2016 I completed training in online therapy and am a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy online (ACTO member 333).
Do feel free to drop me a line if you have a specific query.
In recent months I have moved all of my practice online to adapt to the current public health crisis.
I have vast experience and training in providing online therapy and work to professional guidelines/standards for this way of working. This includes use of encrypted online platforms to ensure confidentiality. I work to guidelines set out by the BACP as well as the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO member 333).
Each therapy sessions is 50 minutes and can be via:
- Instant message: text-based without video or audio
- Email: emails exchanges between us during agreed times
- Audio: similar to telephone but via an online platform
- Webcam: skype-style session with audio/webcam
I am not currently able to offer sessions in-person but do check here for an update as I am monitoring current guidelines and professional best practice on a regular basis.
My first session
Everybody's needs are different, however there are specific elements to starting therapy. Typically, there might be an initial exchange between us via emails to begin with.
After this, if you feel you would like to book something in the diary I will invite you to complete a new client intake form to help us explore fit between your needs/hopes for therapy and my way of working.
If we feel the fit is right, dates are scheduled and you can advise type of session you prefer i.e. text, audio or webcam.
I hope this helps provide an overview of what you might expect. Do of course contact me if you have any queries.
