About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in the centre of Newcastle.

I am fully accredited with the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy) and a registered and accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

If you are considering seeing a CBT therapist it is important they are fully accredited with the BABCP as this means you can be sure they have been trained to the highest level.

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to allow you to ask any questions, discuss how CBT could help you and help you decide if you want to begin therapy.

I specialise in helping people who struggle with any kind of anxiety.

In the first session I will explain how CBT works and we will identify specific goals to work towards. We will discuss the issue you are struggling with at present and start to understand the processes that have caused it and those that keep it in place. My counselling background and warm therapeutic style mean that I am able to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship which enables the therapy to work at a greater depth. This helps me to develop a deep understanding of the difficulties you are facing and use the structured CBT model to overcome these problems and find the best way forward.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that combining this deep understanding with tried and tested methods for change enables long lasting movement and healing to take place.

The therapy takes place in a calm and supportive environment in the centre of Newcastle.

My room is across the road from Central Station and close to the Metro and local bus services. There are also parking spaces and several large car parks nearby.

I have 20 years experience as a counsellor and as a CBT therapist and have worked in the voluntary sector, primary care, higher education and with other agencies.
