I have now moved my practice to online and telephone sessions.
Online sessions have proven to be a successful and popular way to work with clients offering convenience and flexibility. I am trained in online & telephone  counselling services. For those who haven’t tried it,  it can be daunting for new clients so please check my BACP membership (Reg.00918957) and know that the service I offer is safe, professional and confidential.

About me and my therapy practice

I'm Jo, a qualified person-centred counsellor. I remember how nerve-racking counselling can be, is it safe to explore my thoughts and feelings?

Can I trust this person? Not only was it safe and confidential, exploring them was essential to my own well-being. My aim is to support, listen and hear you, giving you the confidence to re-discover your own potential.

Ready to turn a corner?...A warm welcome awaits you. I offer a private professional counselling service for individuals. I'm warm and non-judgemental, the sessions are at your pace, for you and about you.

In 2018, I completed the Rape and Sexual Assault Counselling Centre Training Course (Rape Crisis) in Darlington, with additional eating distress Certificate from NIWE. I have also trained in Bereavement Counselling, Domestic Abuse and most recently Online and Telephone Counselling. I’m committed to CPD and have current Safeguarding and Prevent Certificates, are fully insured, attend clinical supervision, am DBS cleared and ICO (Data protection) registered.

Practice description

One of the things my clients often mention is feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Counselling can help you cope with whatever you’re going through in a safe, confidential and inclusive way. Perhaps you don’t recognise the person you’ve become and feel like you've lost your identity. We all have difficult and challenging times in our lives. Sometimes that can manifest itself in anxiety or low mood without us even making that connection, sometimes we need to put the pieces back. Counselling is a great way to get the support you need when you need it.

My first session

Prior to the first session I will email a Counselling contract, this can be discussed during the first session. The sessions are relaxed and non-clinical. Your mental health matters and I’m here to support you, listen and hear your voice. The first session is often a great opportunity to meet and to see how we can work together.
