About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Janet Kelly. I am a BA (Hons) qualified counsellor. I have gained experience working with MIND (Mental Health Charity) and Place2Be (Children’s Mental Health Charity). I work with adolescents, adults and children age 7 plus. An empathic, non-judgmental and person-centered approach to therapy forms the core of the way I work. An integrative approach to therapy, is a combined approach to counselling that brings together different elements of specific therapies. The view is taken that there is no single approach which can treat each client in all situations. Rather, each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.

Practice description

I offer a welcoming confidential safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Every person is unique and an integrative and holistic way of working is incorporated to meet the needs and choices of the individual client. I am able to offer face to face, telephone and Zoom online counselling. Adult face to face counselling is available in a large comfortable peaceful garden lodge. Adult online and telephone counselling is conducted from a confidential, private and quiet study at my home. Young people have the option of face-to-face counselling at either location. Zoom and telephone counselling might be possible for young people depending on age and suitability.

My first session

I offer an initial free no obligation 30-minute telephone call to discuss issues or concerns that you might wish to address in therapy. This also provides an opportunity for you to decide if working together is the right next step.

In our first session we will discuss what has brought you to therapy. Together we will explore your expectations of therapy and how best I can assist you.
