About me and my therapy practice

I am a person-centred/humanistic counsellor who provides short term and long term counselling for adults, children and couples.  As an ex psychiatric nurse and psychology graduate, I have a particular interest in the interface between psychiatric diagnosis and humanistic counselling and also in working with trauma in a person-centred way. I have over twenty years experience as a counsellor and trainer of counsellors. I am also a counselling supervisor and have an MSc in Counselling.

In addition to being a registered member of BACP, I am a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, a member of The Person-Centred Association and a member of the World Association for Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling/

I hold a current DBS certificate.

Christine Bennett Counselling is registered with the Data Protection Agency and is a BUPA provider

Practice description

I work from upstairs in a pleasant modern physiotherapy practice that specialises in clients with neurological conditions such as head injuries and strokes.  Unfortunately there is no lift in the premises.  There is plent of parking within the Hattersley Court complex but parking spaces directly outside of the premises are reserved for clients with disabilities.  The practice is around 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the 375 (Southport-Wigan) bus stops directly outside.

I usually offer a 11am appointment as my earliest of the day, with a 7pm appointment as my latest. While I prefer face to face work I can offer telephone or internet counselling if this is the best option for you.

My first session

In the first session we will discuss and sign a word processed contract and GDPR privacy statement. If you have BUPA health insurance I would need your authorisation number and, if the client is your child, also your membership number and the child's date of birth.

About me and my therapy practice

The consulting room at Burscough Neurophsiotherapy Centre is in walking distance of Ormskirk town centre (it is on the Hattersley Court office development off Burscough Road) and there is plenty of parking space if you visit by car.

I charge £45 for a 90 minute supervision session for qualified counsellors and £35 for self funded student counsellors.

Practice description

I work as a person-centred counsellor of adults, children and couples and my preference is to work with supervisees who use the person-centred approach. As an experienced counselling tutor/assessor and quality assurer, I enjoy supervision of student counsellors and other tutor/assessors but equally I am pleased to work with qualified counsellors.

While I prefer face to face sessions, I do offer remote sessions if this is the best option.

My first session

I like to ask potential supervisees to come along to 10 Hattersley Court to see the consulting room and discuss how we will work together. In that session, if the supervisee wants to go head and an appointment is booked, I will ask for the information I need to create an individualised contract to be signed in the first session, along with a GDPR privacy statement. In the case of student counsellors, we use the contract provided by their training institution.
