I have some daytime and early evening sessions available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

About me and my therapy practice
A warm welcome to my profile page. If you are feeling anxious, stuck or uncertain or if you have a particular problem or issue you want to work through, counselling may help.
I provide counselling for a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, family and other relationship difficulties. I am very approachable and offer a safe, comfortable space where you can work through any difficulties you are having.
I have a particular interest in working with younger adults as I know that this stage of life can be challenging to navigate.
I am a person centred counsellor. This means I believe that given the right conditions everyone can reach their full potential and feel comfortable being their true self. However, our experiences can block this process.
I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore current or past events that are causing you to feel distressed.
Together we will explore your experiences, feelings, beliefs and behaviour so you can become more self-aware and feel better able to make positive changes in your life.
Sessions will always be led by you rather than directed by me. Empathy, acceptance and genuineness are central to how I will work with you.
My practice is based in Heworth, York between Stockton Lane and Malton Road. It is approximately two miles from the city centre and 5-10 minutes on foot from the the 9 bus route (York City Centre to Monk's Cross).
Free on street car parking is available and there is space to park your bike on my drive.
My first session
You may be feeling nervous about your first counselling session. Our first meeting will be an opportunity for you to decide whether I am the right counsellor to help you.
Before the session I will send you a copy of my counselling contract. I will also send you a form to complete with some details about yourself, including whether you have had counselling before.
In the 50 minute session I will invite you to tell me about yourself and what has brought you to counselling. We will also explore what you are hoping to get from your counselling sessions.
The first session is a chance for you to experience person centred counselling and to ask any questions you may have about this type of counselling and working with me. By the end of the session we will decide whether to work together.
If we agree to go ahead, I will ask you to sign my counselling contract and we will arrange future sessions.
