About me and my therapy practice
I'm a fully qualified counsellor based in rural Northamptonshire and within easy reach of Peterborough, Corby, Kettering and Stamford. I cater for clients of all ages, including children and young people, and have experience of working with a wide range of mental health issues and illnesses, including anxiety, stress, depression, phobias, autism, ADHD, bipolar affective disorder, complex trauma and PTSD.
Everyone has the inner strength and drive to find their own way forward, and to live their life in a more resilient and rewarding way. Sometimes, however, we all need a helping hand. And while this primarily takes the form of talking therapy, I love to work creatively, using art and creative writing, or we can explore other creative ideas that work for you.
Practice description
I work collaboratively with each and every client to tailor a therapeutic relationship that best suits them. If you feel ready to take the first step towards a better way of living and a more fulfilling life, you’ll find a warm welcome from an experienced professional in a safe, confidential, empathic and non-judgemental environment.
And we can meet in-person at my garden office or do sessions remotely via video link or telephone. The choice is yours.
I very much look forward to hearing from and working with you.
My first session
After contacting me, I will get in touch to get a rough idea of why you feel you want counselling and how we may be able to address your issues together. Next, we'll book a mutually convenient time for a first meeting (remote for the time being, but face-to-face when permitted), during which we can discuss how your therapy will work and whether we feel we can successfully collaborate.
It's also a chance for you to find out more about me; and me more about you, as well as to discuss some goals and objectives. We'll also agree an initial timeframe, after which we'll review progress.
It's also a good time to talk about your expectations of counselling and whether that fits with what I offer as a therapist. If not, I will usually be able to recommend a colleague who may better suit your needs. If we do decide to continue, it's also worth saying that therapy does not always develop as expected, so we may need to re-evaluate our approach and goals at some point. Like life, there will be some ups and downs, but we'll seek to work through them towards a better place.
If you feel you want to continue in counselling, we can discuss the details of future appointments, which are usually weekly on the same day and time, and how we might plan to work together to address your needs and get you to where you want to be.
