About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Orla, welcome to my page. I have been working in the field of mental health for 10 years and have a private psychotherapy practice in South London.
As a counsellor, I am all too aware of how daunting it can be to take that first step towards counselling. If you are reading this page, well done for getting this far.
Sometimes in life we can start to feel stressed or overwhelmed and we need some help, someone to listen. It isn’t always possible to work out what we need or how to feel more whole on our own.
Counselling is a process of discovering yourself. It can be exciting, but also scary. I practice with curiosity, creativity, spirituality and empathy to help you unfold your story and have a space that honours you and your process. In terms of creative tools, I use dramatic role play, music, drawing and anything that helps you with your expression. These are of course just tools, if you would just like to engage in traditional talking therapy this is fine also. I am down to earth in my approach and aim to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible.
I am an integrative therapist, which means my style of therapy can be adapted to your unique needs, pulling on psychodynamic, person-centred and creative approaches.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is key and work very much human to human when working with clients to break down hierarchy and encourage empowerment in the therapeutic process. I can offer you a safe and understanding space in which you can explore whatever it is that is on your mind. No problem is too small or too big, because you matter.
I work with a wide variety of issues including: abuse, sexual trauma, racial trauma, bipolar disorder, depression, redundancy, relationship issues, codependency, anxiety, hearing voices, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, addiction (including sex and love addiction), self harm and other forms of emotional distress. Working with LGBTQ+ issues, intersectionality and identity journeying are areas of particular interest for me. I respect the individuality of the client, regardless of gender, race, religion, age, culture, education and sexuality.

My first session
The initial session will be an opportunity for you to discuss with me what your concerns are and what you would like to explore in counselling. If it feels like a good fit, we can arrange for further sessions.
