About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Gemma and I work as an integrative counsellor in North London.

Life in this world can be fast-paced and demanding and I offer a warm, confidential, open-minded and empathic space to help us to slow down and work through the challenges we are experiencing, whatever these may be.

It is important to me that I work within a culturally and socially sensitive framework, acknowledging the impact of the different experiences of the world we can have.

Coming to therapy can be a challenging process and I hope that in working collaboratively, it can also be a deeply transformational and rewarding experience.

Practice description

I practice as an integrative therapist which means I draw on several theoretical models in psychotherapy.

This allows me to really honour the fact that I believe different things work for different people and that there is no such thing as "one size fits all" in therapy.

I allow humanistic, psychodymnamic, relational and somatic ways of working to inform me. This could mean that we explore the impact of experiences in your past and how they may impact you in the present.  It may mean that we tune into our bodies and listen to what they may be telling us.  Perhaps we will explore how we relate to each other and what awareness this might bring to how we relate to others outside of the therapy room.  Or maybe we will work through difficult and painful emotions you are currently experiencing.  However it is that we come to work together, the therapeutic relationship can offer a way of looking at how we are in the world and explore how we might like to evolve and grow.

Ultimately, I believe that being truly heard can be a deeply healing experience and one that I strive to provide.

My first session

I offer an initial free phone conversation of 15-30 minutes in order for us to begin to get to know each other and for you to be able to share briefly what it is that is bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you may have and also for me to think about how I may be able to support you.

If you feel, following this conversation, that you would like to explore therapy together we will book an initial assessment session in which we will further explore what brings you to therapy, consider what it is you would like to get out of the space and also for you to get a feeling of how it is that I work.

If we decide to work together we will then commit to a weekly session of 50 minutes.

I really understand how difficult it can feel to reach out for help and with that in mind I warmly welcome hearing from you.
