About me and my therapy practice

My career has been focused on caring for women, helping them to find their voice, and at times being their voice.

I worked in the NHS from 1982 to 2018. I started my career as a Registered Nurse. I became a Midwife in 1987. As a Midwife, I worked with all aspects to of midwifery care, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and as a Specialist Midwife in Perinatal mental Health.

After 5 years of study, I passed my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2017, and am now a fully registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I also have training with the Foundation for Infant Loss, Working with Female Rape and Childhood Sexual Abuse Certification and Cruse Bereavement Awareness Course.

In my spare time, working as a volunteer with East Kent Rape Crisis Centre (EKRCC) and as a Bereavement Volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Care.

My approach is person centred. Person centred means that I work with you and holistically, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches to suit you, your personality, difficulties, and life experiences.

Although I work mostly with women in all aspects of therapeutic mental health care, but specialise in difficulties relating to abuse and trauma. I also support those who have been bereaved, infant loss, suffering from anxiety, or simply finding it hard to meet life’s challenges.
