About me and my therapy practice
I believe strongly that every person deserves the chance to be listened to and understood in an accepting and accessible environment. I have witnessed the change in people when they have been offered empathy and acceptance in a non judgemental setting and the growth that occurs as a result. I know what it feels like to receive these and personally it was life changing for me, as I was able to accept myself more and allow my own self concept to grow and develop.
I feel privileged to do the work I do and to be let into other peoples lives, earning their trust and working along side them. I understand how much it takes to ask someone for support especially when trust can be an issue.
I am passionate about the work that I do and aim to be as real as possible with every client in response to the trust put in me. I want to offer every client a safe and supportive place where they can be as real as they can too so that you can explore and understand your difficult feelings. My role is to support you through this by offering a strong and caring relationship, where I commit to being an open, active and honest participant. We will work at your pace and I will be guided by you and your feelings.
I am a person centred counsellor offering counselling over the phone, via secure online video and face to face when it becomes safe and secure to do so. I have been practicing as a person-centred counsellor for a number of years, underpinned by 15 years as a listening volunteer with Samaritans. I practice in a number of settings including 2 schools and a cancer charity and I grow as a person and as a counsellor with each new relationship.
My first session
If you are interested in starting counselling with me, then please send me a message using the link attached. I will then get in touch with you to arrange our first contact. Our first session will always be free of charge to see how we get on and whether you are happy for the therapy to proceed. It is important that we both understand what you would like to get out of counselling and how we could work together. Sessions are open ended but it is always useful to review every few weeks
