About me and my therapy practice
Is life not making much sense anymore? Things that used to make you happy don't feel quite the same anymore? Do you feel unmotivated? Maybe the way you used to live your life is no longer good enough or even possible.
I can help you explore and make sense of your life; discover what is important, your values, your beliefs and the origins of all these. Ultimately, the aim is to regain control and feel more comfortable with who you are. It is never too early or too late to do so.
You can expect from me empathy, genuineness and sincerity as well as unconditional positive regard; that means no judgement! I put aside my assumptions and let you reveal yourself to me, honouring your individuality. The sessions will be filled with exploration, understanding, meaning making, emotions and laughter. I am confident I can make you feel comfortable and safe in the counselling space.
For couples, I provide a platform for you to explore your relationship. I will not take sides. I aim to help both of you find your individual voices and re-evaluate your roles. That will usually take us to how both of you have evolved in the relationship and how the relationship itself has evolved as a result. We will explore and analyse how everything is affecting the here-and-now of your lives and reconstruct it into something that works, is sustainable and makes you happy.
If I were to describe the way I work in a few words I would say that the client is guiding the course of therapy and together we work towards finding the best way to improve the client's life.
I do not believe there is a recipe on how to live life to the fullest or a universally accepted right or wrong way to do things. Therefore, much like a problem is specific to a person, the solution should be tailored to them.
My first session
In the first free introductory session we will take some time to discuss the reason that brought you to me, what you hope to achieve through having counselling and what you feel I should know about you. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and create an informal plan on the frequency and time/day of the sessions. This will give you the opportunity to assess whether I am the right match for you. After the session you can take your time to decide and when you do you can get in touch with me again and you book the next session.
