About me and my therapy practice
I have been practising as a counsellor since 1994 in a variety of settings alongside having a small private practice in the centre of Twickenham.
I see clients for short-term counselling (often via their Employee Assistance Programme when sessions are usually limited to a maximum of 8 sessions) and I also see clients for longer-term work. I have worked for several local counselling agencies for between 1 and 4 years, as a Case Manager within an EAP scheme for 7 years and for the local hospice for 10 years so have a broad range of experience.
I provide a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive space for you to explore whatever is troubling you. I trained in Humanistic counselling, an approach which looks at the whole person, encourages people to think about their feelings and behaviour and to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving one's full potential.
I did further training in Transactional Analysis, an approach which can help you understand how you interact with others. It looks at how your beliefs and how the way you interpret the world around you can create recurring, problematic patterns of behaviour. I will work with you and support you to make the changes you desire.
I am also a qualified Supervisor.
Sessions are currently by Zoom or phone and as soon as government coronavirus guidance allows, face to face sessions will be available again. Sessions are 50 minutes long, at the same time each week. I only work with individuals (adults).
My first session
The first session would be an assessment and time for us both to consider if we could work together. While finding out why you are seeking counselling and what you hope to achieve, I would need to gather your personal data, GP details, medical and psychological history.
You would also have the opportunity to ask any questions, be clear about my fees and contractual terms.
