About me and my therapy practice
I work with couples/other relationships and individual clients in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. This provides the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings, what you want to change about your life or relationships and the best way for you to make that change. I will help you do this by listening carefully to anything you tell me and exploring what this means for you in an open and honest therapeutic relationship. I believe that every individual has the capacity within themselves for growth, healing and finding resolution for difficulties in their life and together, we will endeavour to find and use that inner resource for positive change.
In relationship work, I use a mixture of transactional analysis and person-centred approaches to help everyone feel heard and understood but also offering tools to help view your relationship dynamic and how this might have come about.
I offer telephone or online (Zoom) counselling sessions as well as face to face counselling. Please see website for details as well as considerations for deciding whether face to face or online/telephone is the right choice for you.
I am able to see adult clients and couples.
There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions, nor a set interval between sessions. These considerations would be discussed with you at regular intervals to ensure therapy is appropriate and delivered effectively.
£45 per 50 minute session for individuals
£50 per 50 minute session for couples
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone conversation prior to our first therapeutic session. This is to allow clients to feel confident that we could work together in a therapeutic relationship and for you to ask any questions that you may have about the counselling process or about myself as a therapist.
For individuals, our first session will involve a review of confidentiality, discussing any preferences for the way we work and completion of a short wellbeing questionnaire. I will take some personal history details and we will discuss what the main issue or issues are for you and what you want to accomplish with therapy. Some people may not have a clear sense of what is wrong or what is needed and that's fine too. We can explore whatever the feeling is that has brought you to therapy and work from there to realise what is going on for you in your life and what is needed.
I am a Brainspotting practitioner (see https://www.bspuk.co.uk) and can offer this method during our sessions as well as a more standard talking therapy session. Please enquire if you would like to know more about this option. It can be used as a form of brief therapy but can be used over multiple sessions.
For couples, the first session will explore what you want from counselling and what the main issues are. If everyone agrees to continue, the second session will take a more extensive history from both of you as part of the therapeutic process. Each of these sessions will usually last 50 minutes. After these, double sessions can be booked, if preferred and will introduce ideas and tools from transactional analysis to help with the relationship dynamic and communication, as well as allowing everyone to be heard and understood using a person centred approach.
