Most people at some time in their lives experience difficulties and feel they are going through a rough patch. Sometimes it is hard to speak to family and friends about these worries. It can be helpful at these times to speak to someone who will listen and accept us as we are. Counselling can help you express and explore your issue in a safe space. Making room for understanding and compassion.

I work online mainly but I can also provide walk and talk services in the Forres and Nairn area in the Scottish Highlands.

Practice description

The Person Centred Counselling Approach

There are many different approaches to counselling. The Person Centred Approach is based on a deep respect for the person and the belief that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is of primary importance. It is the client who knows their issue and has the capacity within the safety of a therapeutic environment to begin a healing process.

The essential qualities that create a safe, supportive and challenging therapeutic environment include:

- A deep acceptance of the person

- A desire to understand that person

- A commitment to being genuine in the relationship

These qualities, offered professionally and consistently, are the central and distinctive characteristics of the Person Centred Approach.

I will not tell you what to do, put you under pressure or judge you. I will walk along side you. You lead the way and if I think I can see something that you can't, I will express it but the power is always with you to choose what to do.

My first session
