About me and my therapy practice
What I Offer
I provide safe, secure online therapy for women aged 18 to 35. My goal is to create a stress-free environment where you can share what is on your mind. As a person-centred therapist, I will prioritise your needs at every stage. We will work at your pace without judgement.
What Makes Me Different?
One thing that makes me stand out from the crowd is my commitment to client safety. This doesn't just mean the safety of data protection or secure video links, but emotional safety. I encourage my clients to go through therapy at their own pace. I don't believe in 'pushing' people to discuss traumas unless they feel comfortable enough to do so, and I understand that sometimes trust is built over many sessions.
I prioritise the emotional wellbeing of my clients, which involves honouring the length of sessions and providing safe endings. I will always let you know when we are five minutes from the end of a session, so we can wrap up in a safe way and leave you feeling secure to go about the rest of your day.
Practice description
The Person-Centred Approach
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and therapist. This modality offers an alternative to the traditional expert-patient dynamic. Empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence lie at the heart of a person-centred approach.
In practice, this means that I will strive to be honest with you. You will know going in what my polices about confidentiality are, and I will never claim to be competent in an area I am not. I work on the principle of 'what you see is what you get.' I am not hiding anything in sessions; this doesn't mean I make lots of personal disclosures, but instead it means that I am being my true self in the room with you.
My Specialities
I specialise in:
- Anxiety management techniques to help you feel calmer and more in control
- Self-harm management techniques to help you regulate your emotions in a healthier way
- Grounding exercises for trauma processing to stay in the present moment
Security
I am fully insured, fully supervised and compliant with UK GDPR. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and use Cliniko to store all client data, which provides one of the highest degrees of protection possible.
Working Patterns
I work flexible hours to help make counselling more accessible for my clients. Many of my clients work shift patterns or have very busy lives, so there is no requirement to meet at the same time every week.
Video Therapy
I use Cliniko, a leading practice management software, for video calls. Calls are encrypted to industry-standard and my clients join using a unique link. This provides an added layer of security. My clients can access counselling sessions from anywhere in the U.K., provided they have a strong WiFi connection. There is no need to travel, making it easy to fit therapy in around your schedule.
Duration of Therapy
Some people come to work through a specific issue and others come for many months or years. I have experience with both short-term and long-term counselling.
My first session
Free Consultation
I offer prospective clients a free 20 minute consultation to assess their therapy needs. It is a chance to get to know me and see if we would work well together. I ask prospective clients to complete a short intake form before meeting.
First Session
If clients choose to proceed with sessions, I will send them a formal Counselling Contract before our appointment. My first question to new clients is: “what led to you seeking counselling?” The answer is different every time and that is the starting point for our work together.
