About me and my therapy practice

I am an accredited member of the BACP, and a director and professional member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) and the Association of Integrative Coach-Therapist Professionals (AICTP).  I have over twenty years’ experience in personal development with a background in management consultancy, coaching, training, teaching and therapy.

For both therapy and coaching, I work in a solution-focused ‘person-centred’ way, which is counselling speak for putting you at the centre of the work.  Sometimes ‘Solution-focused Brief Therapy’ may suit you best. The BACP describe this as promoting “positive change rather than dwelling on past problems. Clients are encouraged to focus positively on what they do well and to set goals and work out how to achieve them. As little as 3 or 4 sessions may be beneficial”.

There are no set agendas, and as you are the most important person in the relationship - your hour will be all about you, giving you the head-space to make sense of what is going on in your life. I work ‘integratively’ which means I use a variety of approaches depending on what suits you best at that particular time, for a particular issue.

My first session

I offer person-centred, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and personal development coaching in a relaxed and supportive environment, either face to face in my practice room, or remotely by telephone, webcam or email - whichever works best for you.

My sessions cost from £45 per hour (£60 couples) with concessions available, including a non-paying eco-therapy slot per week. Children aged 8-11 are discounted as sessions are 45 minutes. I accept bank transfers, card payments, PayPal and cash payments.

As you are making the brave first step by contact me, I will reply to you within 24 hours. You may not be able to reach me instantly by telephone as I may be working with a client, so please leave a voicemail or text message.

I offer a free, initial 20 minute session where we can discuss how we might work together, what challenges you wish to work on, and answer any questions you have. This can be face to face or by telephone or webcam. There is absolutely no obligation to commit to a full session, as we may not be suited to each other, and it is important that you find a therapist/ coach who you feel you would be able to work with to gain the most out of the sessions.

As a registered member of the BACP I adhere to their code of ethics, online guidance and have regular professional clinical supervision.

Practice description

For students, newly qualified and experienced counsellors.

My supervision is intuitive and person centred.  I base my supervision on Bernard's Discrimination Model together with Solution Focused Supervision , empowering supervisees.  This involves being mentor/ trainer, consultant, advocate/ supporter across the three main areas of intervention (tools and techniques used); conceptualisation (supervisee understanding of client processes) and personalisation (supervisee processes). Solution focused tools are used to empower the supervisee to find their own solutions in a guided manner.
