About me and my therapy practiceHi, my name is Rich and I am currently offering some phone counselling slots each week to interested clients. I trained at York St John University and integrate a number of approaches into my practice. In essence I find paying close attention to the concrete reality of your life as you currently experience it is usually more fruitful than talking in generalisations or about abstract ideas. I work with Students and Staff at Bradford University and provide phone counselling through a national Employee Assistance Programme to those who work in schools.
Practice descriptionI’ve worked with a wide range of clients of different ages and from diverse backgrounds on feelings and difficulties you might feel are familiar - grief, relationships, anxiety, self-esteem and depression, amongst many others. Whilst each therapeutic relationship is unique, clients often seem to find that my consideration of their wellbeing in its broadest sense is helpful, particularly in relation to their robustness, resilience and their sense of their ability to cope. I see such wellbeing as having not only psychological and emotional components but also physical ones and I’m interested in sleep, diet and exercise as well as relaxation – what clients currently do, or might try, in order to “let go” of stress and counter feelings of anxiety.
My first session
You may well have reservations and questions about phone counselling. I did myself, but have now successfully worked with a great many clients in this manner and delivered hundreds of hours of therapy over the phone. If you would like to talk over whether this way of working, and this therapist, would suit you, please send an email to email@example.com including some information about how and when I can call you. This initial half hour discussion is free and is an opportunity for you to find out more about me, about therapy, and whether the practicalities of what I can offer will work for you.
