About me and my therapy practice

Whatever brings you to counselling, I listen with an open mind and without judgement.

I offer sessions (day and evening) online via Zoom for adults of all ages. Contact me to arrange a free initial discussion.

Perhaps you:

  • wish to work on a specific issue
  • are currently experiencing a life event that you need extra support with
  • have ongoing difficulties that are causing distress or a sense of being 'stuck'
  • have a general unsettled feeling or a desire to understand yourself deeper

As a humanistic counsellor I work with your individual experience; we start with where you are today and go from there.

I am experienced in working with a variety of issues. My approach is well-suited to working with anxiety, depression, loss, relationships, self-confidence, loneliness, life purpose, meaning and identity, and wanting to live more authentically.

I see adults of all ages in private practice and have prior extensive experience working with 18-25 year olds and supporting clients who are experiencing work-related difficulties.

Practice description

Ultimately, I believe the relationship we create together is key to your self-development.

We will work together to create a trusting environment in which you feel able to explore your thoughts and feelings freely and honestly.

My approach has a philosophical influence which places emotional and psychological issues as problems with living as a human being in the world.

This means I aim to support you in discovering your own understanding of your experience, to find new ways to move forward, reduce distress, and to live a life that is meaningful to you.

Qualifications and experience

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (BACP accredited course) (University of Brighton)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Counselling Skills (University of Chichester)
  • BSc Psychology (University of Exeter)

Alongside my private practice I am a counsellor at a low-cost counselling service working with adults who present with a range of difficulties.

Prior to that I have been a counsellor at a local charity supporting young adults aged 18-25 and have volunteered as an emotional support worker in person and over the telephone.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked for over ten years in Human Resource Management across a variety of businesses in different industries. My decision to train as a counsellor was partly inspired by my business experiences, in particular managing complex long term employee absence cases and observing how the world of work interacts with personal wellbeing.

My first session

I offer a free initial discussion online.  Choosing the right therapist for you is important and this first chat will give us an opportunity to get to know each other. You can ask me any questions you may have.

I will invite you to say something briefly about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to get out of it, understanding that it might not be easy to talk about the things that really matter straight away.

Together we can decide if what I offer might be suitable for you. There is no obligation to continue if things don't feel right, but if we do, we can look to arrange a first counselling session.
