About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank for choosing to look at my profile. I am Lucy, an experienced therapist based in the Staffordshire, also covering Cheshire. I currently work by phone and online so am able to provide sessions across England.

I am qualified as a counsellor, holding a Diploma in Counselling as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice: Counselling, Guidance and Support. I hold additional qualifications including a Certificate in Clinical Supervision, BA (HONS) in Social Work, Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice and Post Graduate credits in Practice Education. I am also a trained Mental Health First Aider, and am registered with Mental Health First Aid England.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework which underpins my practice. It is important that the service you receive from me is professional and of high quality. I ensure that I maintain my training, skills and knowledge by routinely maintaining my continued professional development (CDP).

My work is important to me because I believe in the benefit of supporting others. I trained as a counsellor so that I could learn skills, methods, models and approaches to enable me to be effective in my work with you. We all need support at times in our lives and I feel that counselling can be an important resource for all of us.

Practice description

I have worked therapeutically for many years having training in humanistic, person centred models. I also utilise Transactional Analysis which can be particularly effective in supporting positive relationships between ourselves and others both at home, with friends and in the workplace. I am experienced in working with adults as well as children and families.

Deciding to access counselling to support yourself can be a big step in its self and I aim to welcome you and help you to feel safe and supported during your experience of counselling. I will provide you with a safe, confidential space where you will be listened to non-judgmentally and experience empathy and kindness. I will not tell you what to do or make decisions for you but I will work alongside you as you manage your own needs and challenges and as you make decisions for your self.

There can be times for all of us where support is needed and counselling offers a unique, supportive space whether you have challenges in your life, you are experiencing difficulty or just feel you need someone to talk to independent of your friends and family. I am used to working with people who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety and stress. I am experienced in supporting family issues and stressors, especially where there is conflict.

My sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £40.00. If you are a student in training, sessions are reduced to £30.00 for 50 minutes. I offer an additional reduced rate for care experienced young adults aged 18 - 25. These sessions are available following a referral from a Key Worker.

I will complete home visits in some cases where a person is unable to leave home through disability or for completing some family work. This is available after a consultation and only if we both consider this method will be in your best interest.

My first session

To support you in finding the right practitioner for you, I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation session (by phone or online). This time enables us to meet each other, for you to ask questions and find out more about the process. It is really important that you find the right therapist for you and this time will support with that. If you decide I am not the right person to work with you, there is no obligation on you to continue. In this session we will talk about what you would like to achieve from our time together. I will give you an overview of the way we will work together and what you can expect from your sessions.

If you would like to arrange your initial free session please phone, text or email me and I will get back to you by phone as soon as I am able which is usually by the next working day.

You can learn more about what you can expect from counselling by visiting my website as well as www.bacp.co.uk
