About me and my therapy practice

Following the achievement of an Honours Degree in Pure and Applied Philosophy I completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Person Centred Counselling whilst experiencing first hand learning about motherhood, closely following this with a Post Graduate Certificate in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy 2014 at the University of Cumbria.

I completed my EMDR Parts 1-3 in 2018 before leaving my role in the NHS in a Children and Young People’s Service. I continued EMDR training with EMDR and Ego States work, Level 1 EMDR for Children and Adolescents and more recently EMDR Unleashed 1 and 2 (Attachment Informed EMDR AI-EMDR) which has increased my passion for attachment informed EMDR which also allows us to work with Intergenerational Trauma and Dreams.

Further training has incorporated a Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling and my Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision, extending the services that I am able to offer. Level 1 and Level 2 Internal Family Systems (IFS) training, both stands alone and beautifully informs AI EMDR work, and allows us to work with trauma in gentle and respectful ways.

My previous experience since qualifying in 2014 was with CRUSE Bereavement Care, Cancer Help, Cancer Care, Primary and Further Education, the NHS and the Survivors Trust, which is where my interest in supporting people who have experienced trauma began to develop.

I am Enhanced DBS Checked, Vetted by Lancashire Constabulary as an Associate Therapist, and I offer sessions under the umbrella of Private Health Providers AXA and BUPA.

About me and my therapy practice

The foundations of my practice are in the Person Centred approach. Over time I have begun to incorporate Trauma Focused theory, Attachment Theory, EMDR, AI-EMDR and Internal Family Systems work into my practice.

As a Supervisor I use my experience to offer Supervisees a safe, supportive relationship to explore relationships with clients, holding both Supervisees and Clients respectfully and compassionately with curiosity and care.

My experience in supporting clients who have experienced trauma, both single incident traumas and attachment or developmental trauma, alongside other difficulties such as (but not limited to) bereavement, thoughts of ending your life, self-harming thoughts, depression, other mental health and physical diagnoses, anxiety and depression has enabled me to grow and develop practice that integrates Person Centred theory, trauma and attachment theory, EMDR and IFS.

I feel that Supervision is not only a vital part of our professional commitment to our clients and our own personal and professional development, but integral to our self care and emotional wellbeing.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist and Supervisor, I adapt Person Centred theory, AI-EMDR, EMDR, Attachment Theory, Trauma Theory and Internal Family Systems theory to work with children from 16 upwards, young people, adults and couples in a relational way, supporting them to work through various difficulties.

I currently work in private practice, with EAPs and Insurance Providers, having previously worked in the NHS, schools and charities.
