About me and my therapy practiceI am an experienced counsellor, working within the fields of bereavement, school and college environments as well as general counselling.
As a Person-Centred counsellor my sessions are client-led. Though past experiences and thoughts for the future may come up, I mostly work with the here and now - the present. However, the way that I work with each person is tailored to them and them alone - the therapy fitting the client's needs, not the other way round - drawing on skills from other therapeutic models such as Existential Therapy and CBT.
We all may experience challenging times in our lives that we feel unable to overcome. Therapy can give insight and help us rediscover our strength and inner capabilities, enabling us to move forward - from being at the mercy of painful long or short-term issues towards an existence with more clarity, understanding and the happiness that each one of us deserves to experience.
For some, feeling unsure of just what it entails, the idea of therapy may be daunting. Everyone at some point can benefit from support, and therapy can provide this. Talking openly and in confidence, in a space of non-judgement, can allow the freedom to express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to discuss with those we know.
We all possess what is needed to help ourselves move forward in life. What therapy can do is facilitate each person's own uncovering of this in themselves, giving support during this often challenging process.
