About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with BACP – the UK’s largest registering body for counsellors and psychotherapists. I have an advanced DBS and committed to working collaboratively with adolescents, adults and geriatric clients to re-discover themselves.
I have six years clinical experience and have provided therapy in various settings for charities, local authorities, community projects and the private sector.
Working in the private sector and managing the delivery of physiotherapy for 15 years, I recognised that the loss of mobility was linked to increased psychological issues. Researching this lead to me into studying a degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Warwick.
Valuing a non-judgmental approach that is honest and friendly, I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to experiencing positive psychological change. I aim to provide a calm and empathic environment at a time where you can often feel in the darkest of places.
I also work at the Priory Wellbeing Centre in Birmingham, providing outpatient therapy for a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, addictions and psychosexual therapy.
Practice description
No two people are the same and, as such, I believe that therapy needs to be tailored to meet your specific needs. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other issue, I can help you recognise underlying problems, fully realise your strengths and adjust certain behaviours and thoughts to achieve a healthier future.
My first session
What can I expect?
In your first session, we will explore the reasons for you seeking therapy and any in-depth questions you may have about treatment. You can then also decide if you would like to proceed. All sessions are 50 minutes long and will be scheduled according to your needs, usually weekly or bi-weekly.
How will the session take place?
Therapy can be delivered in a few ways to suit your needs as I understand life can be hectic and getting to one of our locations isn’t always possible. So, as well as face to face therapy I can also provide therapy over the phone or internet using software like Skype or Zoom.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch
