About me and my therapy practice

Experienced humanistic therapist, in practice since 2014. I can help you to make sense of your difficulties at a pace which works for you; to find your way to feeling calmer and better about yourself. Counselling based on your individual needs.

Seeking help is a difficult step to take and can be accompanied by a whole load of doubts. You are then faced with a sea of therapists. With various approaches and jargon to grapple with, the whole process can feel intense. What makes the most difference though is not so much the approach, but the counselling relationship – can I connect to and feel comfortable with this person?

I am an experienced counsellor who has been in practice since 2014, working for several charities and privately. I also co-ordinated a service for survivors of suicide. In this time, I have helped people from different backgrounds feel better about themselves, calmer and more able to cope with life’s ups and downs.

Simply put, I see my role as to help you to truly hear yourself. Your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and needs; they can all tell us something important. We often distort these things in some way. Or end up having internal battles which can keep us stuck. By exploring your inner world together with understanding and acceptance, things become clearer. You can begin to make choices and respond to the world in ways which feel personally fulfilling.

Although I have wide experience, I find that many of my clients come to me with issues around self-worth, relationships, loneliness and identity. They often have some level of anxiety or depression and sometimes have experienced trauma.

Clients often describe me as attentive, warm, understanding and honest. I can walk with you in the depth of your struggles, offering the support you need to find your way.

Practice description

I see clients online and over the phone as well as face-to-face sessions from comfortable rooms in central Brighton.

Please contact me via phone or email with any questions or to arrange a short telephone/Zoom consultation for free.

My approach to therapy is person-centred at its core. This approach is often described as non-directive, but this term can be confusing. I think it is better to see it as catalytic since the counsellor helps the client move in their own authentic direction.

I am also influenced by other therapeutic approaches, psychological theories, mindfulness and neuroscience. When it resonates with what you are expressing, I may also bring my understanding of these into the work.

My first session

It can be difficult to choose a therapist when faced with so many options. For this reason, I charge only £35 for the initial session and from there you can decide whether I am the right therapist for you.

I also offer a short telephone or Zoom consultation for free if you want to ask any questions before booking.

My standard fee is £60 but I have some capacity to offer concessions to those who have no income or are on a low income.
