During this stressful time of Covid-19 I am working remotely via Zoom and also on the telephone. I work in the daytime Monday to Thursday.
About me and my therapy practice
Since 1982 I have been working, one to one, as an individual psychotherapist and additionally since 1998 as a group psychotherapist. I also supervise the work of counsellors. I have run staff groups in the NHS and educational institutions as well as being involved in the training of students in the helping professions. Psychotherapy provides a safe environment to reflect upon how the past may be impinging upon the present. With this work it is possible to make choices that hopefully improve the quality of your life. Making changes in your way of thinking & living can be unsettling as well as potentially beneficial. Because of this change may be both desired and feared. For that reason I endeavour to treat each person sensitively and individually rather than in a formulaic way.
I work in a flexible way with regard to how long the therapy lasts. Some clients prefer a time-limited approach where we can review how the work is going whilst others are comfortable with an open ended arrangement where decisions about the length of the work are collaborative.
I offer 50 minute sessions. I work mainly once weekly but can be flexible.
I work face to face as well as remotely via Zoom.
My first session
The first session is a chance for you and me to get a sense as to whether we feel we can work together in a beneficial way. Sometimes this process may take two sessions. It is an opportunity for you to ask questions and for me to assess if I am the right therapist for your particular needs.
