About me and my therapy practice

I work with clients on a range of difficulties and specialise in working with people who experience anxiety and want to stop it from holding them back in life. You might feel paralysed by your anxiety, unable to take part in the things you once enjoyed doing. Perhaps you feel anxious about trying new things for fear of ‘failing’, that you’re not good enough, or that you don’t deserve to broaden your experiences.

When working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, a common theme that arises is that they feel stuck and unable to move forward with their lives.

Through therapy, I can help increase your understanding of how you’ve come to be where you are now, and explore how we can work together to help you make the changes that will help you move forward.

Practice description

I'm both a Counsellor and a Chartered and Registered Psychologist.

During the first few sessions I gather information about your past experiences, your present situation, and what you would like for your future. This assessment will help us to develop a deeper understanding of:

Your presenting problem(s); the factors in your past which may be contributing to the present difficulties; any incidents which might recently have triggered your current problems; the factors which might be stopping you resolving your current difficulties; the strengths you possess which help you cope with your current problems and which may also help you resolve them.

I will then make recommendations regarding the psychological approaches I believe may be most appropriate to address your presenting problems, based on the information that has been gathered and discussed during the assessment.

I work integratively where I draw upon different therapeutic theories and models depending on the presenting issues and how we both feel it would be best to work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a safe, collaborative place to explore your therapeutic work. I don’t limit discussions to client work, as counselling supervision involves you, the supervisee, bringing all of yourself to the supervision process including personal and/or organisational issues. Supervision is a place to learn and develop as a practitioner; to gain resources and grow in competence.

My supervisory approach is based on the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision by Hawkins and Shohet. Within this model, you will be encouraged to explore such factors as the interventions you deliver, your relationship with your clients, and any organisational issues which might impact upon the therapeutic process. Sessions are tailored to your needs as the supervisee.

Practice description

I hold the Certificate in Supervision from the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I offer a free initial one-hour session so that we can discuss your needs as a supervisee, how I work as a supervisor, and explore whether we feel we're a good 'fit' for one another.
