About me and my therapy practice
My name is Louise and I am a qualified person centred counsellor. I am a Mum of two and a qualified Teacher.
I understand that life can be tricky and challenging at different times in our lives. I am here to listen and support you in a non-judgemental approach. I strongly believe "A problem shared is a problem halved."
I am friendly, warm and approachable and have experience counselling face to face, over the phone, online and also offer walk and talk therapy.
I have worked with clients who have stress and anxiety, experiencing difficulties at work, who have been bereaved or found it difficult coping in a pandemic, have relationship issues, addictions and people suffering from short and long term illnesses.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling Professionals. This means I take great care to work professionally, with sincere respect for you. I provide a safe space for you to talk about your life circumstances and accompanying feelings. Confidentiality is a priority, as is my commitment to empowering you to be your best version of yourself.
It can be daunting making that first step to take control of your situation, but here you are doing that already. Let's build on this together.
I charge £40 per 60-minute session and payments are to be made through bank transfer.
I truly look forward to meeting you and starting our therapeutic journey together.
Practice description
My practise is in my home, where I have a calm and quiet space where I see clients. If sessions take place over the phone or online (such as Zoom or other) I am able to work un-disturbed, also in a quiet and calm space too - I am happy to show this space to you via facetime if you would like to see the space and thereby feel safe that the space is confidential.
I do not have any waiting area, so would ask you to arrive on time for your session; and therefore not too early, as I would prefer each client to have their privacy. I do leave a gap between clients to avoid bumping into anyone on your way in or out. Parking outside the house, or just around the corner.
My first session
In the first session we will spend time to go over the contract, get to know another and as well as set out boundaries. You are of course free to talk about anything once we have discussed the initial agreement.
We can agree a number of sessions you have, or we can leave it open-ended. If you have a limited number of sessions, we may have to work more focussed on a few issues or worries. We will meet or talk on a weekly basis, and each session is 50 minutes.
