About me and my therapy practice
As a counsellor my passion and focus is ultimately on the experience of being human in all its richness and complexity and on seeking to deepen and explore that experience with others. Often we can feel lost, stuck and scared in the midst of our lives. I am trained in the person-centered approach which means I aim to walk along side people as they explore often difficult and confusing experiences rather than lead and to be alongside them in as warm, curious and engaged way as possible.
Whilst this is my basic orientation, my own professional and personal journey allows me to bring a wide-range of exprience and ways of working to meet individual needs. This includes over ten years of working with clients struggling with addiction and substance misuse, work with clients impacted by sexual abuse and ongoing work with clients with diagnosed mental health conditions. I also have over 30 years experience of mindfulness and meditation which I believe supports me to be fully present with clients and also allows me to offer these approaches to well-being and spiritual exploration.

My first session
I believe all successful therapeutic work depends upon a relationship of trust but also of mutual resonance, an intuitive feel of a connection. Beginning counselling is a big decision and often involves a significant commitment of time and money. I offer an free initial session of 50mins, currently via Zoom or telephone or face-to-face. This first session allows both of us to get a sense of whether we feel we will connect and work well together, offers you an opportunity to ask as many questions as you want and to explore what it is you hope to gain from counselling and begin to get a sense of how this might happen.
