About me and my therapy practice

Hello!  My name is Lori Stafford.  As an experienced integrative Counsellor, I believe that every person is unique and has had different experiences. I am passionate about supporting individuals to improve their wellbeing and make positive changes in their lives by combining elements from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Person-Centred theories and tailoring the treatment according to individual’s needs.

Due to the lockdown, clients will be seen online via a secure and encrypted video conferencing platform called Zoom and my public liability insurance covers me for such work.

Practice description

I believe in personal and professional development through self-awareness. Together we can explore how your feelings, thoughts, personal history and current life circumstances interact with each other and are contributing to your current difficulties. I offer a safe, non-judgemental environment to disentangle your concerns, an environment in which you will truly be heard, in a way you may not have been before with your family and friends.

I see my role as working with you at your own pace and in our own way so that you can perhaps begin to find your own resources and resilience. Counselling can sometimes be challenging and hard work – and enlightening and life-changing – but it is always a responsible choice.

I have a personal interest in working with young people (16+) as well as chronic health and have considerable experience supporting clients with chronic ill-health conditions and diseases such as cancer, MS, ME, lupus and heart disease. Please see my page on chronic illness ‘Living with Chronic Illness/Disability’

I am an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework and strict professional standards.
