I currently offer face-to-face counselling in a Covid-secure environment.
Alongside other measures and protocols, counselling is offered in a large, well-ventilated room in a professionally-managed clinical setting. Whilst risk cannot be eliminated entirely, I believe that the steps I, (and the clinic), have taken, allow us to work as safely as possible in current circumstances.
Local and national advisory guidelines/regulations are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance and our mutual safety.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer brief and long-term face-to-face and telephone counselling for individual adults. Passionate about my work with all clients, I have particular interests in men's mental health, in working with clients who are finding it difficult to reconcile their gender or sexuality with wider societal expectations, and with individuals struggling to make sense of quarter life (millennial), mid-life and retirement issues.

As a person-centred counsellor, I will always put your needs first and respect what matters to you. I believe that when you feel understood and valued as an individual, you will begin to be able to think differently about your past, the way you feel about yourself, the way you behave and ultimately the sense of meaning and fulfilment you find in your life.
Alongside my private counselling work, I spent five years with a city centre charity in Liverpool. The role gave me broad experience of working with 18-80 year old clients with diverse counselling needs.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I had a varied work history including labouring on a farm, managing my own business and volunteering in criminal justice/rehab settings.
I bring energy, creativity and 'whole-of-life experience' to my work with clients but the focus of my attention will always be on understanding you and your experiences.
At my discreet consulting room in Pensby (Wirral), I will offer you a confidential space where your worries and feelings can be aired and explored without judgment. Whilst I normally charge £45 per session, concessionary rates will be considered.
I hold an MA in (person-centred) Counselling and regularly attend professional training, seminars and workshops to stay up-to-date with latest ways of working with clients’ needs.
In particular, I have undertaken online and face-to-face training/professional development with Pink Therapy and Gendered Intelligence to help me in my work with clients who find it difficult to reconcile their gender and sexuality with the expectation of wider society.

My first session
When you first make contact with me I will suggest we start the process by talking on the telephone for 15 or 20 minutes so that we can 'meet' each other. If you then decide to make an appointment, I'll ask you to consider how we might formulate a working contract so that we both know what to expect of each other.
At your first session we will discuss further how we might work together. I will not ask you to commit to a fixed number of sessions and how many you choose to attend is entirely up to you. But making sure that you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor is vital. You might not be sure straight away but after two or three sessions though, you will probably sense whether my approach is going to be effective for you personally.
