About me and my therapy practice

My name is Julie.  I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor.  My working style is person-centred combined with drawing on elements of different theories and techniques to offer flexibility to best suit your needs.

I use my friendly, warm, open and calm approach in sessions to provide a comfortable environment and enhance the therapeutic relationship.

I work in a caring and compassionate way understanding from my own life experiences how upsetting and difficult things can be.  I am passionate about the work we will do together and will be alongside you with any concerns, life events/experiences, behaviours, thoughts and feelings you wish to bring which we can explore together with the belief that you have the ability to find your own answers through exploration leading to awareness enabling growth and change.

I will check in with you as to how you feel therapy is going and carry out regular reviews thereafter to assess progress made and determine if/what further work needs to be done.

Practice description

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work to their ethical framework.

I hold a TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems (RQF) undertaken in August 2020.

I have undertaken Trauma-informed training around addiction and shame.

I have undertaken Grief and Anticipatory grief training

I have full liability insurance and I undertake continual professional development and regular supervision.

I work with a range of issues in particular anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, low mood, shame, guilt and relationships.

I have specific experience counselling family members of patients with a life-limiting illness, subsequent bereavement and other significant losses having worked voluntarily for St Peters Hospice.

I also have specific experience working with addiction in a trauma informed way with client safety at the forefront together with other presenting issues having volunteered and continuing to volunteer for an addition agency.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute telephone or online consultation so you can get a sense of me, ask any questions you may have,  check a first session is suitable and arrange a day and time.  Alternatively we can arrange a first session by email.
