About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified Counsellor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I adhere to their ethical framework and engage in regular CPD which informs and supports my dynamic practice.
I have a background in healthcare and have worked with adults and children in a variety of community settings as well as part of the education system and NHS. I am also a BICA trained fertility counsellor (previously working within a HFEA licensed clinic) with particular knowledge and experience of working with donor conceived adults.
Alongside my private practice, I also work as a child bereavement and staff therapist at the Alder Centre, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
My practice is based in the Person-Centred Approach and aims to help clients explore their emotions and find a way forward that is right for them and their situation.
Practice description
I will provide a confidential, non-judgemental, safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with the aim of assisting your learning, healing, understanding and growth. It is a process in which we work together. I will not tell you what to do but will instead help you to discover your solutions/and or way forward.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are held at a mutually agreed time. Whilst our work is open-ended, periodic reviews of our counselling will take place to ensure you are getting what you need from sessions and feel able to reflect on the work.
Should you choose to go ahead with sessions, they are costed at £50 for 1 hour. Concessionary rates are available for students and unemployed.
I require 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation via a text or email to avoid an invoice being produced and a fee charged. If you arrive late unfortunately, I will not be able to extend the session, as this will affect my other appointments. I require 2 weeks notice of any holiday arrangements and I will also provide you with at least 2 weeks notice of my holidays. My normal working days are Tuesday and Wednesday and I only see clients by appointment. I am unable to correspond with clients between sessions.
My first session
There is no charge for an initial session which lasts up to 30 minutes.
This initial session allows us to discuss the counselling contract and to take a brief history of what has bought you to seek support and expectations for our time working together. It will also give you the opportunity to decide if you feel I would be the right therapist to work with you.
