About me and my therapy practice
Where did you train?
I began my training to become a counsellor in 2009 when I completed my Certificate in Counselling skills with Castle College in Nottingham.
I then enrolled with The University of Nottingham in 2011 on the BA(Hons) in Humanistic Counselling Course. I did my degree part-time over four years and graduated in 2015.
Then what?
Since graduating I have been running my own private practice in Nottingham and have recently relocated to Rainworth in Mansfield. I currently see individuals over the age of 18, counselling students and couples.
Do you have any special interests?
I have a particular interest in Fertility counselling
Do you just work for yourself?
No, as well as my private practice is also work as a fertility counsellor with CARE Nottingham. My role is to support couples and individuals through the rollercoaster ride that is infertility treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
I would normally suggest that we start with 6 sessions and see where we go from there. However, these do not have to be weekly and many clients decided to come fortnightly. Counselling needs to fit into your life.
Are you a member of any professional bodies?
I am a member of both the BACP and BICA and adhere to their ethical frameworks.
What do you think I should look for in a counsellor?
The most important aspect of successful counselling is the relationship between counsellor and client. I would suggest that you look through the directory and see if anyone seems to fit with your needs and give it a go. If you are not progressing for feel like the counsellor/client 'fit' is not right you can always try someone else. Plus remember that all counsellors will have their own different styles and theoretical approach.
