About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Nafeesa.

I’m a warm and friendly Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 10 years’ experience.

I have been trained in a range of counselling approaches, but first and foremost I am a person-centred counsellor.

This means that whilst I will bring all my experience and skills to our sessions, the session focuses on you, and you are treated as the expert in your own life. I will not diagnose you, or judge you. You will be supported in exploring your issues and addressing them in a way that works for you.

My Approach

I am passionate about offering a supportive and non-judgemental environment to people where they can exist, be heard and explore their issues safely.

From experience, I hear that many people struggle to find a counsellor who ‘gets them’, understands their unique experiences, or that they click with. This can put people off seeking help, and is something I aim to change.

With me, you can expect a counsellor who is always warm, friendly, professional and is truly passionate about supporting you to make changes you feel are right for you. As a strong advocate for racial and gender equality, I believe in empowering people to find their voice to be heard, and this is embedded across my practice.

As a practitioner, I engage with the latest research and training and consistently develop my practice accordingly. I have advanced knowledge of complex issues such as domestic abuse, violence, addiction, relationships (family and partnerships) and mental health diagnosis.

I also have extensive experience working with people who are questioning their sense of belonging. This looks different for everyone, but I have become very experienced working with people who require support with aspects of identity relating to culture, race, religion, gender or sexuality.

Practice description

About me and my therapy practice

If you are looking for a professional and friendly supervisor with unique experience to offer high quality support to you in your professional development, I can help.

I deliver supervision to student counsellors, qualified practitioners and other practitioners in care and/or service professions. These include Social Workers, Domestic Abuse Support Workers, Safeguarding Leads, Complex Key Workers, Early help Family workers, Child Protection officers and more.

From experience, I know that it can be rewarding, but exhausting to be in a supportive role like some of those listed above. It can leave us feeling overwhelmed, overloaded, deflated and often under supported. I aim to change this.

Clinical Supervision with me, will offer a safe place to unpack feelings that arise in your practice, walk through situations you’ve been in and by supporting you, allow you to continue to provide the best quality of care for your clients.

Practice description

My Clinical Supervision practice is Trauma Informed and I offer Clinical supervision using the Seven-Eyed Supervision model. This Model of Supervision focuses on the relationships between your client, you as the therapist and me as the supervisor, and takes into consideration the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system. The model is called “seven eyed” because it addresses seven distinct aspects of the supervision process. Focus on the Client,  Focus on Interventions, Focus on Client-Therapist Relationship, Focus on Therapist’s Process, Focus on Therapist-Supervisor Relationship, Focus on Supervisor’s Process and lastly Focus on Wider Context. I believe my model of Clinical supervision is nurturing, supportive as well as open and honest enough to facilitate room for growth, development and healthy challenge.

I have extensive experience of supervising practitioners who work with specific issues relating to; domestic abuse, complex mental health issues, drug and alcohol addictions, childhood sexual abuse, trauma and individuals who live complex and chaotic lifestyles.

I have worked with people of all ages, genders, sexualities, cultures and religions. As a strong advocate for racial and gender equality, I believe in empowering people to find their voice to be heard, and this is embedded across my practice.

If you feel you’d benefit from my support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

By giving yourself the support of a qualified, experienced supervisor, your clients will benefit too.
